FOUNDERS

Alessandro Mauri
CEO

Alessandro Mauri was born in 1986 in Milan, where he studied and he is still living.

In 2009 he received a B.Sc. Degree in Engineering of Computing Systems from Politecnico di Milano (Milan, Italy), discussing a thesis on a new paradigm to comment BPEL files (used to orchestrate web services) and an interactive web interface used to modify these files.

During his M.Sc. Degree studies in Engineering of Computing Systems (concluded in 2012) he concentrated on artificial intelligence and robotics, in particular on the fields of biometric signals and machine learning. He has participated, as student in charge, at a project involving the Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Lab of Politecnico di Milano and the Milan National Institute of Tumors, aimed at detecting ovarian cancer at an early stage using an electronic nose. The skills acquired during this and other projects, have been finalized in his M.Sc. Degree thesis on the design and development of a novel human computer interface using electromyography and motion capture.

After graduation, he founded B10NIX to bring the skills acquired during his studies to the real world.

For their work in B10NIX (especially on project B10Mouse), Alessandro Mauri and the other two founders were awarded the Alumni Polimi Award 2014. Moreover, in 2014 he was inserted in the Audi Innovative Thinking list of the most innovative thinkers of Italy and in 2016 he was a candidate for the Wired Audi Innovation Award.

Paolo Belluco, Ph.D.

Paolo Belluco is co-founder of B10NIX S.r.l.

He received the M.Sc. in Computer Science Engineering at Politecnico di Milano discussing a thesis on new type of robotic actuators, using electro-active polymer as artificial muscles.

He took the Ph.D. degree at Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano with a thesis regarding the design and the development of wearable human-machine interfaces (“Design and Methods of Product Development”). He was a post-doc at Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano; focusing on the use of biometric signals for wearable and virtual reality applications. He also studies haptic interfaces and the usability of robots in virtual environment.

Since 2006 he conducts several research activities, at Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory (AIRLab) of Politecnico di Milano (DEIB - Biomedical Electronics and Informatics Department) in collaboration with Professor Giuseppina Gini, mainly in the field of robotics. Furthermore he is currently a teaching assistant in the courses of Robotics (since 2007) at Politecnico di Milano and supervisor of students in computer science engineering (he was also teaching assistant in Fundamentals of Computer Science and Computer Aided Design course for electrical engineering).

Since 2000 and before the founding of the B10NIX he worked as IT professional consultant (sysadmin, support and maintenance IT infrastructures) and for some years as motorcycles tuner regarding the electronic (eprom, mapping, etc.) He is Member of the Milan Order of Engineers.

Flavio Mutti, Ph.D.

Flavio Mutti is co-founder of B10NIX S.r.l.

He received the B.Sc. degree in computer science engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy (2006), the M.Sc. degree (summa cum laude) in artificial intelligence and robotics from the Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy (2009), and the PhD degree in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence from the Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy (2013).

His interdisciplinary research is mainly focused on the biologically inspired system based on neuroscientific findings. His activity is focused on both low-level computational mechanisms, such as visuomotor mapping, and cognitive systems.

He has published in proceedings in robotics, neuroscience, and computational neuroscience, and has served as reviewer for international conferences.
